During the COVID Lockdowns, make as many outgoing calls to your patients as possible.
Call patients to reschedule their treatment and care before they call you.

Reschedule your patients where possible even if you don’t know for sure whether the lockdown, is going to end within the time that has been advised.

Your patients are looking for some direction and advise right now so you must appear calm and in control and confident on the phone calls.

You want to avoid exaggerating the situation or creating any further concern for a situation that will eventually end.

“Hi Jenny, it’s Mary here from Green Dental. How are you? I am so sorry, but I need to reschedule your appointments for your crown, due to the lockdown restrictions and the limited emergency care we are allowed to give our patients right now.”

“If you have any problems with your tooth, please call us immediately. We are here at the practice to answer any of your questions and help you as best we can.”

I know, having to call your patients to reschedule and delay their treatment and care is not your fault, but it is your responsibility to reassure your patients and to offer a solution.

Apologising for the situation is always professional and greatly appreciated by your patients.

“Again, please accept my apology for any inconvenience this has caused you.”

Call your vulnerable patients who you know will be concerned right now during lockdown.

Reaching out to your patients during these times will be what they remember more than anything.
When you show you care, your patients will know you care!
When you speak to your patients, ask them ALL to follow you on facebook or instagram. This will help you stay in touch with your patients and you can send important messages and information to them, especially during any COVID Lockdowns now and in the future.
“So, we can quickly keep you up to date with important messages and information, please follow us on our facebook/instagram.”
Social media, as a way to communicate with patients, has increased drastically during COVID and especially during lockdowns.
Having a strong social media presence for your dental business will help your patients, and also you will get the attention of prospective patients. Everyone wants a dentist who communicates well and is there 24/7. Well nearly 24/7!
Facebook showed an increase in traffic like nothing they had seen before.
It just makes sense that you would want your business to be there active on social media right now.
During lockdowns, your patients turn to social media for information, communication and interaction.
So, if you have a social media page but you have been a bit slack posting and keeping in touch with your audience, then it’s time to change this.
Daily posts are a given.
Get your team onboard responding to comments and engaging with your audience.
Keep in mind the purpose of social media in your business.
Social media is a way to attract people to your business by building a lasting relationship with them.
Avoid overloading your audience with too much dental info. You want to get your audience thinking and responding and returning to your posts.
Make your posts interesting and more about your audience, not how good you are.
Listen to your audience and give them what they need.
Use memorable images that grab their attention.
Keep this in mind as you are considering what to do next with your social media presence.
“Messaging was up by more than 50% on its platform – on Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram combined. People are spending 70% more time across all these apps.” Ian Haynes
Now go and post something right now!
And keep asking your patients on and off the phone, to connect with you on social media.

If you want to know about the Dental Phone Excellence System I developed over many years working in my own Dental Practice and the same System I now share with many Dental Teams, then give me a call or send me a quick email.

The teams I have worked with all say how much easier it is using the Dental Phone Excellence System, when they answer calls and how many more kept appointments they make and confirm for their patients.
