I recently asked a dental team why their patients choose to come to them for their dental treatment and care, and not another dentist?

They went quiet and had to really think about their answer.

They said there were a number of reasons.

One reason their patients chose them was because the Dental Practice was conveniently located close to their home.

Another reason was, the dentist did amazing dentistry and got good results for their patients and the team were  helpful and caring.

All of the above were fabulous answers and I am sure they were very true.

It made me wonder what you would find out if you asked your patients these same questions.

“Why did you choose our dental practice?” “What makes you keep coming back for treatment and care?’

Asking your patients directly is much better than guessing the answer.


When we started asking our patients these two questions, this was what they told us:

“Everyone is so friendly.”

“My dentist really knows me.”

“My Dentist always helps me find a way to pay for my dental work.”

“They always find me a convenient appointment time.”

“Everything is always clean and fresh in their office.”

“My Dentist helps me feel less nervous.”

“My dental work lasts for a long time.”

We soon discovered what our patients thought was important, was different to what we thought was important to them.

When you know what attracts patients to your practice and what is important to them, you have an opportunity to really look after them.

Patient feedback is what gives you the edge.

Patient feedback gives you insight into what will keep your patient’s happy and satisfied and returning to you for treatment and care.

It’s a great idea to also regularly read your online reviews and take note of what your patients say about you. Good and bad.

Now, if someone asks you why your patients choose you, you will know straight away!
