I was recently watching a television show about how to choose the right chicken.
Do you buy Free-Range, Organic, or Factory-Farmed Chickens?
At the end of the show the woman being interviewed said that as consumers we do notice a difference in price. The organic chickens that have been better fed, and given more space to move around in, and get to live longer, cost more than the factory-farmed chickens.
The price reflects that extra care the chicken receives.
The care of the chicken is a very important factor to many consumers of chicken.
Other people don’t really care and will always choose their chicken on the lowest price only.
Is this the same with our patients?
You’ll find that some consumers make decisions solely on price no matter what they are buying.
Do some patients see that the price reflects the care they receive?
We know which chicken has had the very best care by the labels on the packaging, the research we may do prior to buying our chicken, the stamp of approval on the package and what other people tell us about the organic chickens.
So how do people know that they are getting the very best “organic” Dentist?
Our patients are looking at our brand in our marketing and advertising, and researching the dentist on the internet and listening to what people are saying on social media, websites and also via word of mouth.
So my point is if people are being discerning about their choice of chicken and getting what the difference in price is then absolutely the same thing is happening when people are choosing a dentist.
We need to make sure, like the chicken choice, that we ensure the patients know why the price is different to another Dentist when they are choosing dentists.
Our job on the phone when a call comes into the Dental Office is to make sure the caller knows what our point of difference is. If they don’t know the difference then the difference in price will not make sense and they will make their choice of their dentist based on price.
