You all know that there are a constant stream of problems in many dental offices.

You might even say that every dental office is surrounded every day by the problems that walk in the door with patients. I am talking about dental problems and concerns.

The reason why people arrive at your door with a dental problem is because they are looking for a solution to their problem.

I’m sure you all agree with this statement.

Is your team at your dental office, focused on offering a solution to many of the problems faced by your patients.

Solving dental problems is not only the role of the dentist, but also the role of the whole team.

It is great to give your team the power to be problem solvers but are they able to identify the problems patients have and do they know the solutions.

When you answer calls in a dental office every day, you should be starting to solve the caller’s problem/s.

I know the people on your team answering the calls are not dentists and they must always be mindful of this, but there are so many dental related problems they can start to solve without pretending to be a Dentist.

A great way to start developing team problem solving skills is to create a list of problems as they arise in the practice and then record the solutions you offer your patients. This now becomes an amazing resource to be shared with the team.

I am a big lover of documentation of all things important at the practice and this is one of them.

You will find there will always be those team members who are just gifted at being problem solvers and those that are developing that skill. Working together as a team, gives each person on your team an opportunity to share and shine.
